Grant recipients assured of payments in November amid date change
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has assured grant beneficiaries that they will not be negatively affected by the changing of payment dates to accommodate the elections.
SASSA confirmed a few days ago that it has changed the social grant payment dates for the November 2026 cycle, in a bid to prevent disruptions to the November 4th Local Government Elections.
The older persons grant will be paid on October 30th, the Disability Grant on November 2nd, the Children’s grant on November 3rd and Grants under review on November 5th.
SASSA spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi, “At the beginning of every financial year we issue the schedule for the whole year until the following year in March and so we did issue a schedule.
However, the President announced the election date and the election date was the 4th of November which falls within the payment date, so we were left with no option but to do the adjustments so that it doesn’t affect the beneficiaries negatively but we didn’t want to interfere with the 4th of November.”
