Fire Strandfontein A 27-year-old man’s life ended in a horrific accident while he was unhooking a trailer in Jacobsdal.

A routine task turned deadly for a 27-year-old man who was crushed between a vehicle and a trailer while trying to disconnect them in the Free State.

“Jacobsdal police have registered an inquest docket following the incident where the man was trapped between a rolling vehicle and a trailer,” police spokesperson Sergeant Sinah Mpakane said.

The victim, Montsheng Zenodeen Shyline, was allegedly unhooking the trailer when the vehicle unexpectedly rolled backwards, pinning him between the two.

It is alleged that the vehicle had not been properly secured before Shyline began the task, with the brakes possibly not applied and/or the vehicle not placed in park.
