Two suspects arrested on the Cape Flats

Police say two suspects aged 18 and 20 have been arrested in separate incidents in Ravensmead and Manenberg on the Cape Flats for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg says officers taking part in Operation Lockdown Three followed up on a tip-off.

“In Manenberg, officers were conducting stop-and-search operations when they noticed two males who acted suspiciously when they saw the police vehicles,” says Twigg.

He says the suspects tried to evade the police but were apprehended and searched.

He says one of them had a pistol and 31 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

He was arrested.

The suspects are expected to appear in court next week.
