Man convicted of Tupac Shakur murder due to be sentenced

More than three decades after the murder of American rap legend Tupac Shakur , the man convicted of orchestrating his killing is due to be sentenced in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Former gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis faces life imprisonment without parole following his conviction for first-degree murder.

Ex-gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis will be sentenced after being found guilty of murdering legendary hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur. #UpdateAtNoon #sabcnews https://t.co/xwer06NVhq — SABC News Radio (@SABCNews_Radio) October 13, 2026 Shakur was shot in September 1996 and died six days later at the age of 25.

The sentencing marks another significant development in one of the United States’ most high-profile music murder cases.

Prosecutors argued that Davis organised the drive-by shooting in retaliation for an assault on his nephew following a boxing match in Las Vegas in 1996.

The killing fuelled years of speculation about gang rivalries and tensions within the hip-hop industry.

Davis was arrested in 2023, nearly 27 years after Shakur’s death, following renewed scrutiny of statements he had made in interviews and a memoir.

He has maintained his innocence and is expected to appeal his conviction.

The sentencing is also expected to renew attention on Shakur’s enduring musical legacy and his family’s decades-long pursuit of justice.” VIDEO | ‘Keffe D’ Davis found guilty for Tupac’s murder
