SABC News Business ·

The Gauteng Portfolio Committee on Economic Development , has urged the newly appointed boards of the provincial Liquor Board, Tourism Agency and the Enterprise Propeller to strengthen accountability and improve governance.

Committee Chairperson, Anton Alberts says the Liquor Board must act on findings of the inquiry into alleged corruption and maladministration, while fast-tracking regulations to legalise shebeen operations and strengthening enforcement against illegal liquor outlets.

“The Committee reiterates that the appointment of the new boards must translate into tangible improvements in the performance and governance of the three entities.
