Claude is down

Anthropic's smart assistant Claude is experiencing a major outage.

Early on Monday, Aug.

24, we've noticed that Claude Fable 5 and Opus 5 aren't responding to our queries, returning an error.

"The response didn't load," the error message said.

"Due to unexpected capacity constraints, Claude is unable to respond to your message.

Try again soon." The company's own status dashboard for Claude confirms the issue.

"We are investigating elevated errors on requests to Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5, and Claude Opus 4.8.

We will provide an update as soon as possible," one update said.

There's no word on what caused the issues or when we can expect a resolution.

The most recent update at writing time didn't add any new information: "We are continuing to work to resolve issues causing elevated requests on multiple models." Other companies' LLMs, including OpenAI's ChatGPT, appear to be working fine.
