Uber lets parents watch teen rides live

School, soccer practice, a shift at work or a friend's house.

Teens have places to go, and parents can't always be there for every ride.

Uber is giving families a new way to check in.

The company is adding live video streaming to Uber Teen Accounts, allowing a linked parent or guardian to see their teen inside the vehicle during an active ride.

The feed comes from the front-facing camera on the driver's smartphone.

Uber says the feature is live now in nine U.S. markets.

Uber plans a nationwide rollout over the coming weeks.

If you have a teen who uses Uber, the idea may sound reassuring.

However, a live camera inside the car also raises privacy questions.

Who can watch? Does Uber see the stream? What happens to the video after the ride? Uber gave CyberGuy more detail on exactly how the feature works.
