District Collector directs officials on Karmayogi training, grievance redress and eye donation awareness

District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore on Monday issued a series of directives after the weekly Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) session at the Collectorate.

Mr. Kishore directed heads of all departments to ensure that officials and staff complete the Centre’s iGOT Karmayogi online training course, saying it would strengthen professional skills and public service orientation among government employees. He asked departments to track completion and follow up with those yet to finish.

At the PGRS meeting, 305 petitions were received, including 25 relating to the Revenue Department, 73 to the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, 17 to the police department and 190 to other departments. District Revenue Officer M. Visweswara Naidu and other officials assisted in receiving the petitions. Mr. Kishore directed that grievances be resolved without delay, recurring complaints be addressed with permanent solutions, and action taken be updated on the portal regularly.

Ahead of the 41st National Eye Donation Fortnight, to be observed from August 25 to September 8, Mr. Kishore released an awareness poster and urged officials to dispel misconceptions about eye donation. He said a single donor could restore sight to two persons and encouraged families to be informed of a person’s wish to donate in advance.

Separately, while proceeding to the meeting, Mr. Kishore was approached by the family of Rambabu, a person with an intellectual disability from Chippada village in Bheemili mandal.

Rambabu currently receives a monthly pension of ₹6,000 under the disability quota. His parents, both daily-wage labourers, sought an enhanced pension of ₹15,000 under the bedridden category, citing insufficient support. Mr. Kishore assured the family that officials would visit them directly and take up the matter for resolution.
