‘Crazy’ Mohan was one of the greatest talents in the country, actor and politician Kamal Haasan said at the 75 th birth anniversary of the late actor and playwright here on Saturday.
Mr. Haasan said, “This field is replete with not just fierce competition but also jealousy, but Mohan was a gentleman.”
“I’m fortunate to have worked with some of the greatest talents in India and Mohan was one among them. He never left anyone with a [sense of] rancour. People will always remember something good about him. Being with Mohan itself is fun. He had a great life. He started a great troupe, and it must continue,” he added.
At the event organised by Crazy Creations, the Crazy Mohan Award of Professional Excellence was presented to M.S. Meenakshi, senior interventional cardiologist, MIOT Hospital; Arasu Mohan, specialist in Nephrology, Ministry of Health, Oman; and Mridula Sriram, Bharatanatyam exponent.
Actor and theatre artiste Maadhu Balaji of Crazy Creations said that after his brother ‘Crazy’ Mohan passed away, Mr. Haasan was the troupe’s mentor.
“We have introduced some new innovations such as the ‘Chamber of Humour’ and they have become successful. From senior citizens’ homes to apartment complexes and even hospitals, we have staged our plays in all these locations, and they have been big hits,” he added.
Ravi Appaswamy, chairman, Appaswamy Real Estates Limited, also spoke on the occasion. Lakshmipathy Ramesh, managing director, Geri Care, was present at the event.
