Blue Jays sign recently DFA’d pitcher Michael Lorenzen

Amid their plethora of pitcher injuries, the Toronto Blue Jays have signed Michael Lorenzen .

Lorenzen was released by the Colorado Rockies after being designated for assignment on Aug. 17. According to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi , he had a locker in the Jays' ahead of Thursday's game against the Kansas City Royals.

The starter will now get a prorated portion of the major-league minimum, per Sportsnet's Shi Davidi , with Colorado responsible for the remainder of his $8 million salary this season.

Lorenzen last appeared in a game for the Rockies on Aug. 15. The right-hander hadn't notched a win since June 27 and had gone 3-11 with a 7.08 ERA this season.

The Blue Jays are managing a beleaguered rotation, with Shane Bieber, Trey Yesavage, Cody Ponce, Jose Berrios and others sidelined by injuries.
