Socceroo Volpato scores long-range goal in Serie A win

Sassuolo has defeated Torino in Serie A, with Socceroo Cristian Volpato scoring a long-range goal.

Australian Mohamed Toure scored two goals in Norwich City's win in the English Championship over Burnley.

Fellow Socceroo Paul Okon-Engstler made his debut in Germany's top flight for club Köln on Saturday.

A long-range strike from Socceroo Cristian Volpato has helped his Italian side Sassuolo claim a 2-1 win over Torino in its Serie A clash.

With the match scoreless through the opening half hour, Sassuolo counterattacked from its own half in the 32nd minute.

The ball came to Socceroo Volpato, who ripped a shot from well outside the penalty box.

The low strike curled and beat Torino goalkeeper Diego Mascardi to break the deadlock.

Torino levelled the score at the end of the first half, but Domenico Berardi's 78th-minute winner secured Sassuolo its first win of this league campaign.

Elsewhere, fellow Socceroo Mohamed Toure scored a double in Norwich City's 4-1 win over Burnley in the English Championship.

He has now scored 11 goals from 14 Championship matches since making his first appearance in the league in February.

Twenty-year-old Socceroo Paul Okon-Engstler made his debut in Germany's top flight for club Köln.

Okon-Engstler played 65 minutes as Köln defeated Hoffenheim 3-2 in the opening round of the Bundesliga season.
