COSATU set to vote for Top six leadership positions

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) is set to begin voting for its Top six leadership positions Tuesday afternoon at its 15th National Congress in Kempton Park.

This follows a chaotic start to the congress last month, which collapsed due to eligibility disputes.

Out of 12 potential candidates initially selected, only 10 remain on the ballot.

One candidate declined their nomination, while another was disqualified after being submitted past the deadline.

“SAMWU seconds POPCRU that the voting must take place immediately after lunch.

Is there any union that has a different view? There is no opposing view.

ASA now will go and prepare ballots.

They must go for printing.

As soon as ASA is ready, they will come back to plenary to start that process,” says COSATU President Zingiswa Losi.
