Veld fire warning for Free State amid hot and dry conditions

Weather forecaster Tshifhiwa Mathivha has warned that hot and dry conditions could increase the risk of veld fires in the Free State.

Mostly fine and warm to hot weather is expected from Tuesday through to Saturday, with no rainfall anticipated during this period.

Mathivha says isolated showers and thundershowers are excepted on Monday afternoon, with partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions.

“For the Free State province this week, there isn’t much happening in terms of weather.

We are only expecting some isolated showers and thundershowers on Monday and again on Sunday.

From Tuesday up to Saturday, fine and warm to hot conditions will be dominating and with that being said, there is a possibility of some field fires in places.”
