AKA’s bodyguard’s whereabouts during shooting under scrutiny

The whereabouts of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes’ bodyguard at the time of his shooting have come under renewed scrutiny in the Durban High Court.

This follows testimony from two eyewitnesses who told the court they did not see the bodyguard next to Forbes after he was shot.

Forbes and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were shot dead in 2023 in Durban .

Seven men are standing trial for their murders.

On Wednesday, the State called its tenth witness, Siyabonga Mdluli, Forbes’ road manager, who was present when the shooting occurred.

Asked about the bodyguard’s whereabouts, Mdluli said he had last seen him before the shooting began.

Mdluli: “When I realised he’d been shot, that’s when I looked around to find out where AKA was because at that moment I thought he had ran inside with us; unfortunately, when I looked around he was not there.

That’s when I went outside and saw him lying on the ground dead.” State prosecutor: “Where was the bodyguard?” Mdluli: “I have no idea where he was; I did not see him anywhere.” VIDEO | AKA, Tibz Murders | State calls a new witness to testify:
