Malema promises to make electricity more affordable for citizens

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says the party wants to make electricity more affordable for South Africans.

Some people in Heilbron in the Free State raised their issues and concerns during the community meeting in Metsimaholo yesterday.

Malema addressed party supporters during an election campaign rally in Heilbron, where he also said it was crucial to link South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) grant databases directly to municipal systems to automatically classify social grant beneficiaries as indigent.

“We want to give electricity that’s affordable not cheap.

Because why electricity be expensive when coal is produced in the same place where we are producing electricity. [It is] vey very cheap to produce electricity in SA.

So why should it be expensive to [sell] it.

We will make sure that Eskom doesn’t make profit.” “It makes enough money to sustain itself so that we reduce the price of electricity.

This money they are giving you comes from government.

This money you’re paying of water and electricity goes to the same government.

Therefore Sassa and local government must work together,” adds Malema.
