Case against four accused in Tete murder postponed

SABC News ·

The case against the four men accused of the murder of boxing superstar Zolani Tete has been postponed to the 8th of December in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape.

This is to allow for further investigation into the case and to complete outstanding matters in preparation for the trial.

Police are yet to arrest a fifth suspect in the case.

In August, Tete was gunned down while arriving at his home in Mdantsane together with his girlfriend, who sustained severe gunshot wounds.

The legal representative of accused number one in the case has told the court that his client, who uses a wheelchair, is being mistreated by medical staff at St Alban’s Correctional Services Centre in Gqeberha.

He says the nurses at the facility hurl insults at his client and his condition is deteriorating.

The accused was transferred to the facility after it was established that it would cater to his medical needs.

He’s the alleged mastermind behind Tete’s killing, and last month, he and accused number four were denied bail.

All the accused will all appear virtually in court when their matter resumes.
