From football Saturdays to routine weekdays, the music never stops at this UT house full of college musicians

There may be nothing more symbolic of campus culture at big American universities than a college football weekend.

The pomp, the circumstance, the parties, and of course, the big game itself, unify the community with a spirit and an electricity that is hard to replicate elsewhere.

But the arts, especially music, come close.

Later Saturday, as No.

1 Ohio State invades the Lone Star State to take on No.

4 Texas in the most marquee Week 2 matchup in the country, OutKick University’s Game Of The Week, students on campus in Austin will be revved up for some great football.

Music from the marching band, and from tailgating parties will be a big part of the festivities.

And the music won’t stop there.

If they want to keep the groove going for a post-game party on Sunday, Texas students are welcome, as they are every Sunday, to stop by Anna Buendia’s house, which is affectionately known as "The Lodge," located off Pearl Street on West Campus.

"The Lodge" is where music happens every day, and especially on Sundays, when musicians play all day long and free food is provided to anyone who stops by.

"It's Austin, so music's everywhere ," Buendia said.

"It’s a densely art-rich city to be in, and just finding a microculture within it has been so wonderful.

" EVEN ON OPENING WEEKEND, FOOTBALL PLAYERS AT CLEMSON, LSU MIGHT BE UPSTAGED ON CAMPUS BY THESE FURRY FRIENDS Buendia, a Texas native who has been either writing or performing music since she was 16, is one of five roommates at "The Lodge." All of the roommates in the rented home, steps from the heart of campus, are musicians who love to write music, play music and perform music together.

And, as a way to spread their love of music, they have opened up their home, which is equipped with all kinds of instruments and equipment, to other Texas students for free jam sessions, rehearsals, writing sessions and even more slickly produced ticketed performances.
