Army identifies 2 pilots killed in Apache helicopter crash near Fort Hood during training exercise

Army's Fort Hood has identified the two pilots who died during a training exercise on Wednesday involving an AH-64E Apache helicopter near Salado, Texas .

Fort Hood identified the fallen soldiers as Chief Warrant Officer 2 Deontre T.

Huey and Warrant Officer Seth L.

Olmstead.

"Our hearts and deepest condolences are with the families of the Soldiers we lost Wednesday," Lt.

Gen.

Kevin D.

Admiral, III Armored Corps and Fort Hood commanding general, said in a statement the Army released Friday.

"The Army is a family, and a tragedy like this is felt throughout our formations and our community," Admiral added.

The 34-year-old was from Killeen, Texas .

Olmstead entered the Army in January 2023 as a warrant officer candidate, and was assigned to the unit in October 2025.

The 25-year-old was a native of Belton, Texas.
