Mets Activate Juan Soto From Injured List After 1-Month Absence

The Juan the New York Mets invested $765 million in has returned.

New York announced on Saturday afternoon that it has activated Soto from the 10-day injured list.

Soto, who's batting second and serving as the Mets' designated hitter in their Saturday afternoon home matchup against the Houston Astros, hasn't played since July 24 due to a calf injury.

To make room for Soto on the active roster, the Mets sent infielder Eric Wagaman to Triple-A Syracuse.

Soto, a six-time Silver Slugger and five-time All-Star, also missed roughly three weeks in April due to a calf injury.

Through 84 games this season (359 plate appearances), Soto has totaled 21 home runs, 52 RBIs, a 164 OPS+ and 2.7 wins above replacement, while boasting a .283/.408/.539 slash line.

He ranks in the 93rd percentile of MLB in average exit velocity (92.5 mph), 92nd percentile in barrel percentage (14.3%) and 89th percentile in hard-hit percentage (48.6%), according to Statcast .

As for the club he's returning to, the Mets have lost three consecutive games and four of their last five.

New York is 60-75, good for 13th in the National League and last in the NL East.

Soto, 27, is in the second season of an MLB-record 15-year, $765 million deal with the Mets.
