Mamdani's team reportedly clashing with socialist candidate he endorsed over ICE shooting

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani 's staff is reportedly furious at New York Democratic House candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier over her attacks against NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch after a recent shooting, according to the New York Post on Wednesday.

After Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents shot an illegal immigrant earlier this month, the New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), of which Chevalier is a member, called on Mamdani to remove Tisch.

Though Mamdani said that he was reviewing the circumstances of the shooting, he had no plans to remove Tisch .

"Jessica Tisch is the police commissioner.

I have no plans to change that," Mamdani told reporters Tuesday.

"They were pissed about what she did on social media and her public rhetoric on NYPD," one source told the New York Post .

"City Hall was like, ‘What the f--- are you doing!’" "She is throwing her own fireball rhetoric to rally the folks," another source added.

"But instigating doesn’t help." According to the New York Post, these sources described Chevalier as a known "potential liability" for the Mamdani administration for a while and were surprised as to how soon she became a problem.

"They are sick of her, and she’s not even started in Congress." Fox News Digital reached out to Chevalier's campaign and City Hall for comment.

While appearing with Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, Chevalier took issue with Tisch highlighting the criminal history of Oscar Belgal, the 28-year-old Dominican Republic national shot during an immigration operation, during a press conference on the shooting.

"You know, I was just so angry as I was listening to it," Chevalier said.

"I have gone back to her remarks to make sure that I was correct in our statement about it.
