‘Days of Thunder’ Sequel: Anne Hathaway Joins Tom Cruise, Release Date Set at Paramount
Anne Hathaway has joined Tom Cruise for the Days of Thunder sequel, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
A release date has been set at Paramount for June 2, 2028. The follow-up to the 1990 movie will be also filmed for Imax.
Tom Cruise will return as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle, while Hathaway will play a team owner and engineer. Cruise will also produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper. Jonathan Levine will direct from a script by Will Staples.
Days of Thunder was a reteaming of Cruise with his Top Gun helmer Tony Scott, and is recognized as one of the actor’s most memorable roles. The stellar cast included Robert Duvall and Nicole Kidman, as well as Cary Elwes and Randy Quaid.
