Variety reports Well Go USA Entertainment has acquired the U.S. rights to Paradise Lost , the latest film from Colony director Yeon Sang-ho. The story concerns “a mother’s young son” who “mysteriously disappears along with a bus full of children. Years later, he unexpectedly returns — but has changed in ways she could never have imagined.”

Variety also has word Strand Releasing has picked up the U.S. rights to The Blood Countess , starring Isabelle Huppert as the vampiric Elizabeth Báthory. Set “decades after her mysterious disappearance,” the titular Blood Countess “reemerges in modern-day Vienna, where she reunites with her devoted underling, Hermione, to track down a dangerous book with the power to destroy all evil—including all vampires such as themselves. The duo embarks on a scavenger hunt through the city’s magnificent historic sites and conscript the countess’s melancholic nephew—a vegetarian vampire—and his psychotherapist as they expand their search to Bohemia. Meanwhile, a pair of vampirologists and a police inspector remain hot on their trail.” Birgit Minichmayr, Thomas Schubert, Lars Eidinger, and André Jung co-star.

According to World of Reel , LAIKA’s Wildwood has been rated PG-13 for “strong fantasy violence/bloody images, thematic material, suicide related material, brief partial nudity, and language.”

When they were announcing that, I did the thought exercise where I was like, what can you do with A Nightmare on Elm Street , especially with a new actor playing Freddy Krueger? And to be honest with you, I couldn’t come up with an answer. Weirdly, I have another project I’ve been developing that’s in the vein of that, so, I don’t know.

If somebody showed me a script or gave me a concept, I would look at it, because I love those movies and I’d be intrigued. But, to be honest with you, I don’t know how you would do that. It doesn’t feel like you could be as funny as Freddy Krueger was.
