Police fatally shoot sword-wielding man after woman found trapped in car, officials say

A sword-wielding man was fatally shot by police outside a Nashville sedan where a woman was reportedly being held against her will Saturday, authorities said.

The fatal officer-involved shooting unfolded on Cheshire Drive, where officers encountered a 54-year-old man outside his Hyundai sedan while he was armed with a sword, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department .

Police said a woman was inside the vehicle and was reportedly being held against her will.

Authorities have not released her condition.
