Oilers legend Robert Brazile on fishing, wild Bum Phillips advice and how Howard Cosell coined Dr. Doom

Robert Brazile built a Hall of Fame career by wrecking offensive game plans, but these days, "Dr.

Doom" is taking his talents to the water.

The Houston Oilers legend reeled into OutKick OutDoors to share his outdoor routine, swap wild cowboy tales about Bum Phillips, and break down how he earned one of football's scariest nicknames.

Before Lawrence Taylor ever terrorized quarterbacks, Brazile was already wrecking offenses.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Oilers legend stacked up seven straight Pro Bowls, a spot on the NFL’s 1970s All-Decade Team, and a long-overdue induction into Canton in 2018.

These days, the defensive terror who spent a decade demolishing ball-carriers lives at a much different pace.

He replaced bruising hits with early-morning bike rides, long walks and a growing love for life on the water.

And make no mistake, Brazile is up long before most people hit snooze.

"My day starts about 3:30 every morning," Brazile said.

"I get up and I color by numbers on an app on my iPad.

I sit there and color a picture every day, and then I send my daily creation out to a friend who is waiting to see what I colored." He then bikes to a creek near his Alabama home before taking a two-hour walk, relying on the exact same routine that helped him memorize his Hall of Fame induction speech.

It is also how he ensures family comes first.

"I still have both of my parents living," Brazile shared.

"So I want to get everything done early in the morning, and by the time they wake up, I'm over there visiting them to see what I can do to help make a great day for them." Despite living right on the water, the former linebacker admits he isn't even the top angler under his own roof.
