Alienware Desperately Wants Gaming Pros to Finally Adopt OLED

OLED is everywhere now; the screen technology is so ubiquitous we’re now seeing 4K Roku OLED TVs that cost $1,000. So there’s a reason why Alienware is begging the esports pros to toss their fast TN LCD monitors in the trash and come over to the dark side with the prettier QD-OLED visuals.

That’s where the Alienware AW2527HX, announced at IFA 2026 , comes in. It’s a 24.5-inch, 560Hz, 1080p monitor built for the professional gaming crowd who prize ultra-high refresh rates and zero-ghosting screens above all else. QD-OLED, which is a screen that incorporates a quantum dot layer in front of the organic light-emitting diode display, already sports a faster pixel-to-pixel response time of 0.03ms. LCD panels popular with pro gamers can achieve response times as low as 0.1ms, the amount of time it takes a pixel to change color. OLED simply has it beat for pure motion clarity.

This screen is built for higher brightness values than other monitors of its kind, with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification, plus a promised 1,500 nits of peak brightness in HDR content. The monitor is built on a telescoping stand that’s supposed to give it more room to maneuver on a desk. Alienware said it worked with esports pros Team Liquid on the final design. The monitor even includes a handy arm on which to hang a gaming headset.

There are other reasons pro players have stuck with LCD—namely, longevity. OLED screens that stare at the same static image—like an in-game HUD, for instance—can cause burn-in, where a ghost of those visuals remains on-screen. Dell’s gaming brand claims it’s making use of its anti-burn-in algorithm to refresh pixels over time. It should also come with a three-year warranty, should something go wrong anyway.

That 25-inch, 560Hz monitor won’t be around until early 2027. Alienware also has another screen; it’s debuting at IFA to accompany its existing 1440p ultrawide and its massive 39-inch 5K2K monitors . Like those displays, the new AW3226Q includes much of the newfangled screen tech, like penta-tandem and RGB stripe technologies, to make the screen brighter and more legible with text. It’s now on a regular 32-inch 4K flat screen rather than on any curved design. It also only maxes out at a 165Hz refresh rate, so it may sit on the more affordable end of 4K monitors.

The Alienware 32-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor should be available this fall, though the brand said it wouldn’t reveal a final price until closer to launch.
