Police issue update on four arrested after woman 'raped' in Swindon GP surgery car park

Police in Wiltshire have issued an update on the four men arrested earlier this week after a woman alleged she had been raped in a GP surgery car park.

The alleged incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning when a woman in her 30s reported being sexually assaulted in the carpark of the Great Western Surgery in Farriers Close. Shortly after police were made aware of the report four men were arrested on suspicion of rape and brought into police custody.

Police confirmed the men were aged 19, 20 and two 21-year-olds, but released no further information.

On Tuesday Detective Inspector Tom Straker said: “We recognise the concern that this worrying incident will have had in the local community." He added: "We are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to this. You may notice an increased police presence in the area. If you have any concerns, please do approach our officers.”

A crime scene remained in place in the GP surgery car park yesterday while investigations continued.

In an update yesterday evening Wiltshire Police issued a further update on their investigation. A spokesperson said: "Four men who were arrested yesterday (13/10) in connection with an alleged rape in Swindon, have been bailed with conditions.

"The men, ranging in age from 19 to 21 years old, have been interviewed by detectives who are continuing their investigation into the circumstances."

The investigation is ongoing and officers are continuing to appeal for information from anyone who was in the Farriers Close area in the early hours of Tuesday morning, or who may have CCTV or dash cam footage taken from the time. If you can help please call 101 quoting log 54260123495.
