Woman says she was left 'bewildered and confused' by alleged Russell Brand assault
A woman who alleges she was indecently assaulted by Russell Brand has told his trial she was left feeling "bewildered and confused".
The woman, who worked at MTV at the time, said the entertainer went from "jovial" to a "wild-eyed maniac" as he attempted, she alleged, to pull her into a toilet.
Brand, 51, faces seven charges in the trial - three counts of rape, three charges of sexual assault and one of indecent assault.
The allegations, made by six female complainants, span a 10-year period between 1999 and 2009. He denies the charges.
The woman gave evidence on Friday from behind a screen at Southwark Crown Court in London, on the third day of Brand's trial.
She told the jury the alleged incident at MTV lasted for about 20 seconds, adding: "It was a very short exchange."
Asked how she felt after the alleged attack by Brand, the alleged victim said: "Bewildered, confused, 'what the hell happened there?'"
She said Brand went from someone who was "affable" to a "wild-eyed maniac trying to pull me into the toilet".
"I was confused that that actually just happened - anyone would be," she said.
The complainant told jurors on Friday she met Brand in 2001 when she worked at MTV.
She said she recognised him straight away and said there was "banter" between them initially.
After noticing his "distinctive T-shirt" with the words "I am Spartacus", she told Brand she "loved it" and wanted it.
"He said, 'you can have it'", the woman told the jury, to which she said she replied: "Make sure it gets a good wash first."
The woman, who was in her thirties at the time, said she offered to show him the way because she was going in the same direction.
