Everyday items have unearthed under the floorboards of Buckingham Palace , with a Football Pools betting slips from 1957, an empty cigarette packet and an almost 140-year-old West End theatre listings from a newspaper discovered by workers.

A ticket to the Royal household’s social club nearly 80 years ago is also among a collection of forgotten items uncovered during the restoration of the iconic building, along with a rundown of instructions for hosting a grand royal reception.
