Sky Sports presenter forced to apologise after X-rated Man City live interview

Sky Sports presenter Johnny Phillips was forced to apologise live on air after Rayan Cherki swore in his post-match interview. The Manchester City star scored twice in his side's 4-1 win over Crystal Palace but was not pleased by his first half display.

When asked about his overall performance, he said: "My performance is so-so. In the first half, we didn't find the space, I played s***. When I see Enzo [Maresca] wants to change me, I don't like that I need to show them I want to play, I want to score. I want to give assists to Erling because today I didn't give him the ball a lot."

Once Cherki stopped talking, Phillips was subsequently forced to apologise for any comments that may have offended anyone watching.

Cherki was accompanied by Erling Haaland , who also bagged a brace, in the interview and he appeared to mutter under his breath in response, "I don't think anyone was [offended]." The comment brought a smile from Cherki, who had been awarded player of the match for his dazzling first goal and impressive second.

When asked if his first goal was one of his best, Cherki shyly said: "I don't know, I just try to give the ball [to Erling]. I'm very happy for the win, see you next week.

The City striker was keen to heap praise on the Frenchman though, and interrupted by stating: "Just say what you actually mean, you scored two top goals."
