Harry Styles jokes about Taylor Swift’s wedding during MSG residency

Harry Styles has poked fun at Taylor Swift ‘s wedding during his landmark 30-night residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

READ MORE: Harry Styles live in Amsterdam: a hopeful celebration of community and connection The dates come as part of the singer’s ongoing ‘Together, Together’ tour , which has so far seen him play a record-breaking 12 shows at London’s Wembley Stadium , as well as dates in Amsterdam, São Paulo and Mexico City.

Now, he is across the pond for an impressive 30 nights at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden venue , which kicked off earlier this week.

The iconic venue was also where his ex-girlfriend Swift married Travis Kelce in a star-studded ceremony back in July .

During his show last night (August 29), Styles poked fun at the coincidence, telling the crowd: “We’re at Madison Square Garden, home of the world champion New York Knicks!”, before adding, “And they also do weddings.” The ‘Adore You’ singer briefly dated Swift between 2012 and 2013 , with the latter’s ‘ 1989 ‘ tracks ‘Out of the Woods’ and ‘Style’ believed to have been penned about their relationship.

Back in 2017, it was rumoured that Styles’ track ‘Two Ghosts’ was about Swift .

In 2020, Styles discussed being the alleged subject of Swift’s music , saying at the time: “I think about what it means to me to write a song about somebody else, and for someone else to do that, I think it’s flattering.

The 30 shows mark the final dates planned on this leg of the tour, and conclude with a “Harryween” show on October 31, before more dates in Melbourne and Sydney in December.

Support for his tour has come from Robyn , Shania Twain , Jamie xx , Jorja Smith , Fousheé , Fcukers and Skye Newman , and his Wembley residency also saw him pay tribute to David Hockney, reflect on his One Direction days , cover ‘Three Lions’ , and wildly celebrate England’s World Cup win against DR Congo after showing the game on the stadium’s big screens.

He closed the London run with an onstage appearance from his sister Gemma and a Pride celebration .

Styles was later officially recognised by Guinness World Records for his history-making Wembley Stadium residency , and has been given a gold Blue Peter badge in acknowledgement of the feat .
