Amelia Dimoldenberg to close doors of Chicken Shop Date

Amelia Dimoldenberg has announced she will end Chicken Shop Date after more than a decade.

The presenter, known for her off-the-wall questions and deadpan silences, revealed the news in an Instagram post.

She has become one of the UK's best-known content creators through the web series, which features interviews with rappers, actors and celebrities framed as a "date" with the host.

While "all good dates must come to an end", Dimoldenberg told fans to expect "a few final dates" before the show officially ends.

"To me the show is my very own rom-com and I have loved creating so many stories for you to watch," she wrote.

"I am so grateful to everyone who has followed me on this journey and found some joy in these episodes.

"I never thought I'd stop Chicken Shop Date, I thought maybe it would be a part of me forever, and in some way it always will, but I feel like it's now time to move on from this adventure and on to a new one."

Dimoldenberg insisted just months ago she had no plans to end Chicken Shop Date, and said she planned to carry on until she met her "one true love".

Her most recent interviewees have included music heavyweight Paul McCartney, Swedish pop star Zara Larsson and US television host Conan O'Brien.

The presenter has long said her dream guest , external would be Drake and fans will be speculating if she's managed to bag the Canadian rapper for one of her final episodes.

And thousands of supportive comments have been left under the announcement post.

Author and broadcaster Elizabeth Day wrote: "Knowing when to stop - and leaving on such a high, after shaping the culture - is the quintessential power move."

Dimoldenberg previously told the BBC how Chicken Shop Date had grown out of a series of interviews with grime artists she conducted as a teenager for culture magazine The Cut.

"I started Chicken Shop Date as part of a youth club, and we made a magazine, and everything I learned there, the connections I made, the mentoring I got, set me up for the career that I have today," she said.
