Dubois vs Wardley 2 LIVE: WBO title fight result, latest updates and reaction

PA Oli Gent , Sports Reporter @ oli_gent 11 minutes ago Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley 2 LIVE

Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley lock horns once more this evening in a rematch of their heavyweight contest back in May earlier this year. The two British heavyweights clash at the O2 Arena tonight, with Wardley looking for revenge after Dubois survived two knockdowns to dethrone the champion at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester last time out.

‘Dynamite’ claimed the WBO heavyweight title, which will be back on the line here as the pair top a star-studded bill in south-east London. Dubois’ mentality had been called into question last time out, but after an unideal opening where he was sent to the canvas inside the opening 10 seconds, he recovered magnificently to claim a second world title of his career.

Wardley, meanwhile, was courageous as he was stopped in the 11th, having dropped Dubois in the third round in an electric start. On paper, the Ipswich-born fighter is the underdog, but he is still dangerous, as his 20 wins, with 19 knockouts, suggests. Keep up to date with all the latest from the O2 with our live blog below.

A big opening for the challenger, as he looks to take the front-footed approach in his quest to become British lightweight champion.

Olaniyan gets Garber on the nose, he punches the canvas in annoyance as he goes down, and his corner throws the towel in! He doesn’t want to stop just yet, but he’s put down again, and this time he’s counted out.

Olaniyan rocks Garber at the end of an aggressive flurry after a lively opening round, but we go into the second.

Final round, as Dacres tries to swing in a desperate pursuit of an unlikely stoppage, while Jalolov is back behind the jab and seeing this through.

Into the penultimate round we go with Jalolov playing with his food. The stoppage is there to be had, but how much does he want it?
