Manchester United XI vs Ipswich: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup, injury latest for Premier League

Manchester United should welcome back Mason Mount against Ipswich, but new signing Carlos Baleba must wait for his debut.

Michael Carrick heads into the Red Devils’ first home game of the new season at Old Trafford on Sunday looking for a positive result after going down 2-0 at newly-promoted Hull in toothless fashion on opening weekend.

United came through that game without picking up any further injuries, but Carrick could still make changes to his starting XI against more top-flight newcomers.

It means Marcus Rashford, who came off the bench last weekend, could be handed his first start after being reintegrated back into the first-team squad.

Out would come Patrick Dorgu, with Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes supporting lone frontman Matheus Cunha. Benjamin Sesko is still building up his fitness following a shin issue.

Kobbie Mainoo is another pushing for a place in the team, with summer signings Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos failing to impress in midfield against Hull.

Amad Diallo is set to be sidelined for "a little bit longer", according to Carrick, having missed the opener with an unspecified knock picked up in training.

However, Mount is in contention having returned to training this week following an ankle injury suffered against Paris Saint-Germain during pre-season.

New signing Baleba has joined from Brighton for £70million , but is injured after picking up an ankle ligament problem during a pre-season training camp in Austria and will not be seen on the pitch for his new club for "two or three weeks".

Tom Heaton, Matthijs de Ligt and Manuel Ugarte will also miss United's first home fixture of the campaign through injury.
