Which UK supermarkets are open on the August bank holiday?

Many Britons will get to enjoy a day off on Monday for the UK ’s last bank holiday until December.

The summer bank holiday is the sixth of eight national holidays and falls on the final day of the month and the last day of summer this year.

While much of the UK is forecast to see rain and thunderstorms over the bank holiday weekend, the weather is expected to brighten up with sunny interludes for parts of the country on Monday.

Like other bank holidays, many stores will operate on reduced hours. This is when supermarkets are open on Monday:

Larger Tesco supermarkets in England and Wales will be open from 8am to 6pm, but express stores are expected to operate usual hours.

Sainsbury’s opening times will vary depending on the store, but most larger supermarkets are expected to open from 7am until 10pm on Monday.

M&S stores will operate on reduced hours on Monday and will typically close between 6pm and 8pm.

Most Waitrose stores will be open from 8am to 6pm on Monday. Smaller branches are expected to stay open during their normal hours, but opening times for bigger supermarkets will vary.

Asda stores will be operating later on Monday at 8am and closing at 10pm. Some express locations will continue to stay open for 24 hours or until their normal closing time.

Many Lidl stores will also operate on reduced hours and close early at 8pm. However, London stores are expected to close at 10pm.

On Monday, larger Morrisons supermarkets in England and Wales are open from 7am to 8pm, but many smaller stores are expected to operate on regular hours.

Many Aldi stores will also operate on reduced hours on Monday from 8am to 8pm in England and Wales stores.
