Russian stock market climbs at open

MOSCOW, September 22. /TASS/. The Russian stock indices went up at the start of the main trading session on, according to Moscow Exchange (MOEX) data, while the Chinese yuan edged lower against the ruble.

At the start of the main trading session, the ruble-denominated MOEX Index rose 0.52% to 2,269.76 points, while the dollar-denominated RTS Index gained 0.52% to hit 847.29 points as of 9:00 a.m. Moscow time. The yuan slipped 3.4 kopecks from the previous close to open at 12.46 rubles.

By 9:30 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX Index accelerated its gains to 2,271.82 points (+0.61%), and the RTS Index reached 851.03 points (+0.61%). Meanwhile, the yuan extended its decline, dropping 6.75 kopecks to 12.42 rubles.

The broader Moscow Exchange Index (IMOEX2), which includes pre-market trading, edged up 0.33% to 2,265.47 points at the 7:00 a.m. open.

On September 14, 2026, the Moscow Exchange extended its main trading session by one hour to a total of 10 hours. The main session across the equity, derivatives, foreign exchange, and precious metals markets now kicks off at 9:00 a.m. Moscow time, aligning with the start of the calculation and publication of the exchange's main indices.
