Russia’s ruling party wins most overseas votes in Duma election

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. The United Russia party received the most votes in last weekend’s election to the State Duma at polling stations abroad, accounting for more than half of all votes, data from the State Automated System Elections 2.0 platform reviewed by TASS showed.

Overall, approximately 270,000 voters cast their ballots overseas, with more than 159,000 people, or over 58% of the number of valid votes, backing the ruling party, according to data from September 23. New People ranked second with over 13%, followed by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) with 10%, the early results show. A Just Russia - For Truth and the Liberal Democratic Party of the Russian Federation (LDPR) came in fourth and fifth, with more than 5.7% and more than 5.1%, respectively.

As many as 333 polling stations were opened in 152 countries for Russian citizens living abroad, including at the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan, where United Russia received 2,530 votes, coming first in the election which was held on September 18-20.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) is planning to announce the final results of the Duma vote on September 25 after all protocols have been processed.
