US to launch "financial offensive" against Iran on Monday — Treasury Secretary

WASHINGTON, August 24. /TASS/. The US administration expects to launch a "financial offensive" against Iran on Monday, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.

"We are now entering the endgame. At dawn begins an economic D-Day - the single greatest financial offensive ever marshalled against an adversary," he wrote in a post on X Sunday evening.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the start of an economic war and isolation against Iran on an unprecedented scale. He also warned that countries whose financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities provide support to Tehran would face serious economic consequences from the United States.
