United Cultures Forum program to include 117 events

ST. PETERSBURG, September 24. /TASS/. More than 117 events, including 71 theater and concert performances and 46 exhibitions, are part of the St. Petersburg Seasons Festival of Culture program of the 12th St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum, Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova told TASS.

"The cultural program will be extensive. <...> In all, the St. Petersburg Seasons feature more than 117 events, including 71 theater and concert performances and 46 exhibitions," she said.

In particular, on September 24, the National Ballet of Cuba, named after Alicia Alonso, will stage Giselle at the Mariinsky Theatre. The Boris Eifman Academic Ballet Theater will hold performances on September 24 and 25 to mark the choreographer's 80th birthday.

The Alexandrinsky Theatre will stage the Brazilian production A Gentle Creature, based on a work by Fyodor Dostoevsky, as well as Resurrection, based on Leo Tolstoy's novel. The Russian Museum will host the exhibition Great Women: Images in Russian Art, while the Manege will showcase the large-scale The Stage project marking the 150th anniversary of the Union of Theatre Workers of Russia. The opening of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic season will be held to mark the 120th anniversary of Dmitry Shostakovich's birth.

The St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum will run from September 24 to 26. Its main theme is United Cultures - Shared Values. The forum features 10 thematic sections. TASS is the forum's general information partner.
