A 29-year-old youth, Avidi Surya Vinaya Teja, was burnt alive, while another man, N. Ayyanna (35), succumbed to injuries when a car, in which the duo were travelling, collided with an iron-laden lorry on the highway late on Friday (August 21, 2026) night near Chintoor in Polavaram district.

Vinaya Teja belongs to Rangareddy district in Telangana and Ayyanna is a native of Rayavaram Mandal in East Godavari district.

The incident occurred when the duo was on their way from Hyderabad to attend a wedding in Rayavaram Mandal in East Godavari district. They were supposed to receive their friends in Kunta in Chhattisgarh.

Chintoor Sub-Inspector M. Santosh Kumar told The Hindu : “The car, driven by Ayyanna, collided with the lorry from the opposite direction and the negligence of the driver is suspected for the accident on the NH-326”. The lorry was heading from Odisha to Chennai.

Surya Vinaya Teja was struck by the car and burnt alive when the car caught fire after the speeding lorry dragged it for a few meters. The driver, Ayyanna, was declared brought dead at Edugurallapalli Primary Health Centre.

SI Santosh Kumar has said that the dead bodies have been sent to Chintoor area hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and the investigation is on.
