Government planning IT park for Belagavi, says Satish Jarkiholi

Minister for Public Works and Belagavi district in-charge Minister, Satish Jarkiholi, has said that the State government was taking steps to establish an IT park in Belagavi with the objective of creating employment opportunities for local youth.

Chairing a meeting at the Belagavi Urban Development Authority (BUDA) office on Saturday, Mr. Jarkiholi directed BUDA officials to prepare a detailed plan for the proposed IT park, including the identification of suitable land, infrastructure, and other facilities.

He said many young people from Belagavi were moving to other districts and States in search of employment owing to limited local opportunities. The proposed IT park would help generate jobs in information technology and allied sectors within the city, he said.

The Minister directed officials to expedite the preparatory work and ensure that the required infrastructure and facilities were incorporated into the plan.

Mr. Jarkiholi also directed officials to prepare a comprehensive master plan for Belagavi, taking into account the city’s rapid growth and future requirements.

He stressed the need to modernise major traffic junctions and develop smart circles at suitable locations as part of efforts to improve traffic management and enhance the city’s appearance. Such projects should prioritise reducing traffic congestion, ensuring public convenience, and improving the overall aesthetics of the city, he said.

Development plans should take into account the city’s future needs, with priority given to roads, junctions, parks and other civic infrastructure, Mr. Jarkiholi said.

The Minister called upon officials to work towards making Belagavi a more organised, well-equipped, and aesthetically improved city.

Asif Sait, BUDA chairman and MLA, Abhay Patil, South MLA, Deputy Mayor Hanumant Kongali, Sameeulla Madiwale, Pushpa Parvatharao, and BUDA Commissioner Shakeel Ahmed were among those present at the meeting.
