A software engineer from Andhra Pradesh’s Kuppam is reportedly missing after the devastating flash floods in Nepal, prompting his family to reach out to the police and the State government for assistance.

According to family members, V.S. Balasubrahmanyam, who is settled in Hyderabad, had travelled to Nepal on August 13 with a batch of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra pilgrims. “His mobile phone has remained switched off since Tuesday, and the family has not received any information about his whereabouts,” Srikanth, the software engineer’s elder brother, told the Kuppam Police.

Mr. Srikanth also appealed to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for assistance in tracing Mr. Balasubramanyam.

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched efforts to identify and evacuate state residents stranded in Nepal. A control room has been set up at A.P. Bhavan in Delhi to coordinate with the Centre and monitor the situation, Deputy SP (Kuppam) Parthasarathy said.

Meanwhile, five residents of Andhra Pradesh are currently untraced. Four pilgrims from Adoni in Kurnool district who travelled to Mana Sarovar have been reported safe.
