Expired food articles, spoiled vegetables, poor hygiene and pest infestation were among the violations detected during a special food safety inspection drive conducted by the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) at seven restaurants in Hyderabad on Saturday, August 29.
Six enforcement teams of the TG SAFE, comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel inspected restaurants across the city. Officials also found violations in the handling and storage of food articles and non-compliance with food safety labelling and display regulations.
The inspections covered Chutneys, Spice 6 and Ohri’s in Banjara Hills, The Spicy Venue in Jubilee Hills, 4 Seasons Multicuisine Restaurant and Shah Ghouse Restaurant in Tolichowki, and Pista House Restaurant in Gachibowli.
Following the violations, officials lifted 11 food samples on suspicion of adulteration for further examination. Four improvement notices and three show-cause notices were also issued to the restaurants, according to TG SAFE.
