A four-kilometre walkathon was held in Dharwad on Saturday to create awareness among the public about the significance of eye donation.

Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad, Snehal R., flagged off the eye donation awareness rally organised by Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Dharwad.

Addressing the protestors, Ms. Snehal said that eye donation is a noble act and urged people to come forward and pledge to donate their eyes.

The Medical Officer at Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Srikrishna Nadagouda, said that the eyes donated by one person could potentially help at least four people with blindness regain sight. He stressed the need to create greater awareness about eye donation among the public.

Around 350 students from Kittel Arts College, Shriya College of Nursing, and Sonia College of Pharmacy participated in the walkathon, carrying placards and raising slogans.

Senior doctors from Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, including A.B. Jadhav, Satish Kadaramandalagi, Juhi Vadalkar, Adarsh, Professor Rekha Jogul, Professor Suresh Nyamathi and others, were present.
