The Department of Posts has invited applications from students of classes VI to IX for a philately quiz to award scholarships under the Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana.

The scholarship aims to promote philately among children at a young age in a sustainable manner that will reinforce and supplement the academic curriculum while helping them relax and de-stress.

Shortlisted candidates will have to complete a project assigned by the Department of Posts, a release said.

Students who scored at least 60% marks in their previous annual examinations (2026) are eligible to apply. Applicants should either be a member of a school philately club or hold a Philatelic Deposit account. Those without an account must open one before applying.

Selection will involve a two-level written quiz. Successful candidates from the second level must submit a philately project at the regional level within 15 days to qualify for final selection. The preliminary quiz will comprise 50 multiple-choice questions covering current affairs, history, science, sports, culture, geography, and philately (local and national).

Forty candidates — ten each from classes VI, VII, VIII, and IX — will receive an annual scholarship of ₹6,000.

Applications can be downloaded from www.karnatakapost.gov.in and must be sent by Speed Post to the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Mangaluru Division, Mangaluru – 575002. School in-charges may send applications of candidates in one envelope with a covering letter by September 10.
