The Kuwait Airways flight that was grounded at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Thursday (October 15, 2026) after it was suspected to have hit a bird returned to Kuwait on Friday.
According to airport sources, the aircraft reported technical issues after it was suspected to have hit a bird and remained grounded at the airport soon after landing.
The aircraft was scheduled to fly back to Kuwait with passengers from Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday morning itself. However, airline authorities aborted the return journey and arranged another wide-bodied aircraft to carry passengers booked on Thursday and Friday. The replacement aircraft departed for Kuwait at 7.30 a.m. on Friday with passengers of both services.
Meanwhile, airport authorities said the aircraft had been under ‘Aircraft on Ground’ (AOG) status since it landed on Thursday morning, as it could not fly back due to technical issues. The aircraft was later flown back to Kuwait without passengers at around 10.30 a.m. on Friday, the authorities said.
