The Commissioner’s Task Force, Jubilee Hills Zone team, along with S.R. Nagar police, arrested two alleged hash oil peddlers and seized 1.71 litres of the narcotic substance, valued at ₹21.37 lakh, in Hyderabad.

The accused were identified as Poddu Mohan Rao, 41, an agricultural worker from Araku in Andhra Pradesh, and T. Bistudas, 27, also an agricultural worker from Alluri Sitharama Raju district.

According to the police, Mohan Rao had been struggling financially while working in agriculture and driving an autorickshaw. He allegedly came into contact with a person from Champaguda in Odisha who was involved in selling hash oil and offered to connect him with prospective buyers.

Police said Mohan Rao subsequently contacted Bistudas and another person known to them, who had earlier supplied hash oil to customers in Hyderabad. The two allegedly purchased 1.71 litres of hash oil from their contact in Odisha on the morning of August 30, intending to transport it to Hyderabad and sell it at a higher price.

According to the police, the duo boarded a train from Visakhapatnam to Secunderabad around 3 a.m. on August 31, carrying the contraband. After reaching Secunderabad during the afternoon, they hired an autorickshaw and went to Water Tank Lane in S.R. Nagar, where they waited for a prospective customer.

The Task Force and S.R. Nagar police, acting on information, apprehended them before the alleged transaction could take place.
