Over 100 participants ran from Sivananda Salai, near Marina Beach, to Napier Bridge as part of the marathon.

The Department of Social Work (Self Finance), Madras School of Social Work, organised a walkathon to mark World Mental Health Day on Sunday.

Held under the theme “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change”, it brought together over 100 participants, including students, faculty members, family, friends and volunteers.

It aimed to encourage open conversations about mental health, challenge stigma, and foster a society built on empathy and inclusion. The participants ran from Sivananda Salai, near Marina Beach, to Napier Bridge.

The programme commenced with introductory addresses by guests and faculty members.

Media personality and mental health activist Jeyachandran, and Director of The Banyan Academy of Leadership in Mental Health, Ramesh, participated, a press release said.
