BRS Legislature Party Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao demanded ₹10 lakh ex gratia for the families of two agricultural labourers from Induvasi village in Jogulamba Gadwal district who died in a road accident in Karnataka’s Yadgir district. He also sought free medical treatment for the injured workers and financial assistance for their families.
The former Minister consoled the bereaved families and met the injured workers during his visit to Induvasi village in Gattu mandal. He extended immediate financial assistance to the families of the deceased, Asepu and Naganna, and those injured in the accident on behalf of the BRS.
Expressing concern over the plight of migrant labourers, he said around 40 Dalit families from the village had migrated to Karnataka in search of daily-wage employment.
Mr. Harish Rao criticised the Congress government for allegedly failing to provide adequate assistance to the affected families. He demanded immediate government intervention to ensure that the victims received proper treatment and financial assistance.
“This is the Chief Minister’s own district. The government must stand by them and the families should not be left to face this crisis on their own,” he said.
Accusing the Congress government of bringing back the distress migration that had plagued the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district, Mr. Harish Rao said Palamuru had witnessed large-scale migration for years because of inadequate irrigation and employment opportunities. He claimed that the BRS government, under the leadership of K. Chandrasekhar Rao, had worked to reverse the trend.
He warned that the BRS would launch a strong agitation if the government failed to support the affected families and address the problems confronting farmers and agricultural labourers in Palamuru.
He demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka provide a clear written assurance that farmers would continue to receive uninterrupted free power round the clock, including at night.
