A 60-year-old driver of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) reportedly suffered a heart attack while driving the bus but managed to halt the vehicle safely, averting a major tragedy near Jagtial town on Saturday (August 29).

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when the bus carrying around 50 passengers was travelling from Maddunur in Buggaram mandal to Jagtial.

The driver, identified as Lakshman, experienced severe chest pain while at the wheel and managed to stop the bus on the roadside before losing consciousness, sources said.

He was immediately rushed to the Government General Hospital in Jagtial, where he regained consciousness after receiving treatment. His condition was stated to be stable.

Lakshman is scheduled to retire from service on Monday, August 31, 2026.
