WJM holds hunger strike in support of Anagha Sasi at Malayalam varsity

The Women Justice Movement (WJM) district committee staged a hunger strike on Tuesday (August 25, 2026), Uthradam day, in solidarity with Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University research scholar Anagha Sasi, who is protesting in front of the university gate against alleged caste discrimination in higher education and harassment by teachers.

The WJM said it would continue to support Ms. Sasi until she gets justice and take up the issue in the coming days. WJM State secretary Rajita Manjeri inaugurated the protest. District president Bushra, vice-presidents Bindu Parameswaran and Shifa Khaja, and secretaries Saleena Annara, Shifa Sherin and Shahanaz spoke.

Representatives of Fraternity Movement, Girls Islamic Organisation, Welfare Party of India, and Jamaat-e-Islami also expressed solidarity.
